Quotations vary wildly because moves vary wildly. Here are honest ranges based on what we actually invoice, and what pushes a quote to the top of its band.
Local moves, within a city
- 1 RK / studio: ₹4,000 - ₹9,000
- 1 BHK: ₹6,000 - ₹14,000
- 2 BHK: ₹9,000 - ₹22,000
- 3 BHK: ₹14,000 - ₹35,000
- Villa: ₹25,000 - ₹60,000
Intercity moves
Distance sets the floor and volume sets the multiplier. A 2 BHK moving 500 km typically lands between ₹28,000 and ₹52,000. The same 2 BHK moving 1,800 km runs ₹45,000 to ₹85,000. Under about 300 km the fixed costs - crew, packing, loading - dominate, so cost per kilometre looks terrible on short intercity hops.
What actually drives the number
Floor and lift. This is the single most underestimated factor. A fourth-floor flat with no service lift can add 20 to 30% in labour alone, because everything moves at the speed of a staircase.
Packing grade. Full packing typically adds 15 to 25% over transport-only. It is also the single best predictor of arriving undamaged.
Parking distance. If the truck cannot get within 50 metres of the door, every carton is carried further, and the crew size goes up.
Timing. Month-end, weekends and the March-June peak carry a premium of 10 to 20% simply because demand outstrips vehicles.
The charges people do not expect
- Octroi and state entry permits on interstate movements - billed at actuals, typically ₹500 to ₹4,000.
- Tolls on long routes, ₹1,500 to ₹6,000.
- Society parking or move-in charges - some charge ₹1,000 to ₹5,000 and neither mover nor customer controls this.
- Detention if the crew waits more than two hours for access at your end.
- Storage beyond any free period agreed.
How to bring the number down
Move mid-month and mid-week. Declutter genuinely - volume is the biggest lever you control. Pack your own clothes and books while letting professionals handle fragiles. And book early; last-minute bookings pay a scarcity premium in every season.
